The 2016 Porsche 911 R was designed by Andreas Preuninger, the head of Porsche's GT program. He is absolutely confident when he says that the new Porsche was created especially for those Porsche fans, who want to experience driving pleasure in its purest form. He also considers that the new model can easily substitute a motorbike for driving on a public road.
The 911 R model became even faster, as it became lighter. This was done due to pulling the weight out by using the 911 GT3 RS as a basis. The car gets magnesium roof, carbon-fiber bonnet and front fenders, polycarbonate side and rear glass, and, of course, a lot of aluminium details. The new Porsche is 110 pounds lighter than the GT3 RS model.
The 2016 Porsche 911 R has a 500hp 4.0-liter flat-6 engine. Instead of a dual-clutch transmission, the car is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. The Porsche 911 R accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and 200 km/h in 11.6 seconds. The top speed is 323 km/h. The 2016 Porsche 911 R coupe debuted at the 2016 Geneva Auto Show. The base price is $185950.
